I had this privilege to attend a meeting a few days ago with my superiors and Sumiko Tan, during which I get to meet many interesting people. The locals saw my name tag and would address me as "Mr Ang" which I am totally fine with but when this group of ang-mo(s) came in, they got too overwhelmed that they went around and introduced themselves.
When the first guy was walking towards me, I contemplated and wondered what name should I introduce myself to them. Feeling worried that they cannot pronounce my name, and that APB sounds cheesy, I decided on "Ang". A mistake that is, it was so awful when they pronounced it and it sounded more like Annnnnnnnnnnnnnn. They even gave a weird expression on their faces when I said "Ang".
See, that's the problem right there, my name is too cool, it is not easy to bring across to new people. Therefore I think I need a new name, a new name that can easily be brought across to people. I wish I was Shi Ying, and then I can call myself Shing. So nice isn't it? Oh well, what should I call myself? Suggestions anyone?
